Four Skates. One Complete Solution.
Founded in 1953, Hilman Inc. has spent over 70 years building the industry’s broadest heavy-load moving portfolio — steel chain rollers, wheeled dollies, three-point systems, toe jacks, powered movers, and engineered-to-order solutions when the job requires more than a standard solution. Designed in Marlboro, NJ with manufacturing in the USA.
Inside that product lineup, the OMNI-SKATE — Hilman’s multidirectional rotating dolly — is the largest-selling skate in our portfolio. When a move requires a load to turn, crab, or follow a curvy path, the OMNI-SKATE provides the multidirectional movement required. CNC machines, chillers, generators, data modules, and medical equipment can all present situations where a load needs to turn a corner without another lift. Large modules may also require support in the middle, where a multidirectional skate is often the practical solution. When used in tandem with Hilman’s battery-powered TK-EVO, the OMNI-SKATE can also provide multidirectional support when a corner of the load needs to move in any direction. The new OMNI Pro Kit takes that 360-degree machinery-moving capability and streamlines storage and transport.
An OMNI-SKATE is not a lightweight object, and a single skate often is too heavy for a single person to handle. Larger frames often require a forklift and strap just to move, while their size makes them difficult to stack and space-intensive to store on shelves or pallets. Packing them for travel can also be costly and time-consuming. Without a dedicated storage solution, loose skates can be left behind on pallets, while handles and alignment bars can end up on another job or get left behind altogether—leaving the next move without the equipment needed to get started.
Therefore, the OMNI Pro Kit became the answer to these cumbersome issues.
Key Takeaways
- The OMNI-SKATE is Hilman’s largest-selling skate — a multidirectional rotating dolly designed for 360-degree movement.
- Each specialized stand organizes four dollies together, plus two alignment bars and two handles on higher-capacity KO-12, -24, and -32 models. Together, the kit moves as one load with a forklift or pallet jack.
- Everything is secured – nothing is left behind.
- KO-6 uses four OMNI-1.5 skates (45 lb., 3.95″ high). Drop them into the rack by hand. Combined kit weight 294 lb.
- KO-12, KO-24, and KO-32 models pin each skate to the stand. The pin is the fulcrum. Flex straps hold skates and handles. Combined kit weights: 433 lb., 613 lb., and 725 lb., respectively.

How the Move Works
- Lift the machine with a Hilman jack kit.
- Set the four OMNI-SKATES under the load — drop in the OMNI-1.5s from a KO-6, or pin-and-lift the larger skates from a KO-12, KO-24, or KO-32.
- Move in any direction. Pair with a Hilman powered machine skate or other mode of force if needed.
- Return the skates and accessories to the stand – pin and strap.
- Move with a forklift or pallet jack.
- Store a complete kit ready for the next move.
Where the OMNI Pro Kit Earns Its Place
The OMNI Pro Kit is particularly valuable when multidirectional movement is only part of the challenge. In many applications, the equipment also needs to be transported between work areas, stored between moves, or deployed by a small crew without additional handling equipment.
Moving through tight or curved spaces — CNC machines, chillers, generators, and other heavy equipment that must turn corners or change direction without another lift.
Supporting large or modular loads — Data modules, skids, and other large loads that require multiple points of support while turning, aligning, and positioning.
Working alongside powered equipment — Applications where a TK-EVO provides powered movement while OMNI-SKATES support corners or the center of the load and allow it to move in multiple directions.
Moving between jobsites or work areas — Projects where OMNI-SKATES, handles, and alignment bars need to travel together and remain organized between moves, rather than being stored or transported as separate components.
Limited handling and storage space — Facilities where large skates are difficult to move by hand, stack, or store efficiently and a dedicated stand provides a more practical way to handle the complete set.
The OMNI Pro Kit is designed for more than the move itself. It keeps the equipment together before, during, and after the job — giving crews a complete, organized solution for multidirectional heavy-load movement.
Customer Solutions: The Same Company Behind OMNI Pro Kits
The OMNI Pro Kit is the latest example of a longstanding approach at Hilman: developing solutions around the challenges customers encounter in the field. From difficult access and unusual load configurations to demanding floor conditions and specialized handling requirements, Hilman works with customers to identify the right equipment for the application — whether that means selecting from our standard product portfolio, modifying an existing solution, or engineering something entirely new.
That approach extends well beyond the OMNI Pro Kits. Across industries, Hilman’s products are working in applications where standard material-handling methods are not practical, and the moving solution needs to be designed around the realities of the job.
Data centers. UPS systems, chillers, switchgear, heat exchangers, PDUs, transformers, and racks — often well past 100 tons — need to move through tight, sensitive halls. Hilman supplies complete machinery-moving kits so crews have the equipment they need when the load arrives. OMNI Pro Kit can handle the multidirectional portion of the move, while the Traksporter, TK-EVO, and PowerAttack can supplement the system where powered movement is required.
Norfolk Naval Shipyard. NNSY’s Industrial Engineering Department put a Hilman TK-EVO on a 9,500 lb. CNC milling machine and completed the move in four hours with a small crew. The same challenges — low doors, narrow corridors, and machines that cannot wait on a crane — are the types of conditions that drive customers to seek alternatives to conventional lifting and handling methods.
DLA Distribution Barstow. Defense Logistics Agency selected a Hilman Traksporter so that oversized and heavy loads could reach indoor storage areas where existing equipment could not access. When loads also need to turn within a building, multidirectional skates can provide the additional maneuverability required.
Power generation and rotating equipment. Hilman designed a cart with 15-OT rollers, Accu-Roll guidance, and onboard hydraulics so a customer could install and remove 70,000 lb. generator rotors. Other plants have used Hilman Low Profile Transporters for spent-fuel cask moves. In each case, the equipment was developed around the requirements of the application — from the load and floor conditions to the available access and handling method.
Shipyards and heavy fabrication. A Port Arthur yard rolling barges needed a different Hilman solution when chain rollers began damaging a deteriorated floor. The answer was steel-wheeled dollies instead of rollers. The right moving system depends on the conditions of the move, not simply on the equipment used for the last project.
Infrastructure. Hilman rollers launched Tappan Zee spans over a live Metro-North line — 300-ton units with Accu-Roll and rockers. Modified 15-OT rollers launched 45-ton precast segments on the BQE connector to the Williamsburg Bridge. These projects demonstrate the range of applications Hilman equipment can support, from major infrastructure work to specialized machinery moves.
Modified and engineered-to-order. NASA rocket fuselage transports. Jeld-Wen hydraulic die lifters. Suncor thermal-expansion bearings that ran from 1999 to 2017 in Fort McMurray. A 75-ERP rolling rotator for a heavy-duty wrecker turret. When a standard solution does not meet the requirements of the move, Hilman can modify an existing system or engineer a solution from the ground up in Marlboro, NJ.
